Mantic Games, the talented tabletop team behind Halo: Flashpoint, is readying its next big project: a board game based on the Assassins Creed series.

Assassins Creed: Animus is what a Mantic rep described to Polygon as a “true board game,” as opposed to a skirmish or miniatures game that just so happens to take place on a board. The game revolves around competition between two-to-four players as they try to complete personal goals while also influencing the challenges faced by their fellow assassins. Mantic has revealed Altair, Ezio, Connor, and Eivor as playable characters so far, but plan to include many more from the Assassins Creed franchise.

“Were thrilled to be partnering with Ubisoft to create the Assassins Creed board game” Mantic CEO Ronnie Renton said. “Fans can expect a deep respect for the franchises lore and history, exciting asymmetric characters, and tough gameplay choices between pursuing your own objectives while needing to maintain their edge over other players.”

Crowdfunding for Assassins Creed: Animus is scheduled to begin in late 2025, with a pre-campaign page now open on Kickstarter with more information on the game. Mantic is aware that President Donald Trumps far-reaching tariffs may affect the ability of folks in the United States to purchase the game and “has scenario planning in place so that US fans will be able to back this project with confidence.” More details are planned closer to launch.
